Romacaleo Feat. Nikki Foster
Scotland's own Romacaleo Gypsy Jazz band and Borkestra from Budapest will hit you like a tornado of Gypsy, Klezmer, Transylvanian music!
Romacaleo is Scotland's most original Gypsy Jazz band bringing together Scottish, Roma and Jewish musicians to create a potpourri of styles. Each musician contributes from their own heritage to the colourful repertoire of the group that is heavily rooted in Gypsy Jazz. Romacaleo is rapidly becoming a leading force on Scotland's Gypsy Jazz scene. They will be joined by the fantastic Yiddish singer, Nikki Foster.
Borkestra is a new trio of award winning Hungarian musicians from Budapest. Playing both authentic and original material from Hungarian / Transylvanian Gypsy and folk traditions, this trio of vocal, saxophone and guitar will leave you jaw-dropped.
After many successful, well attended workshops, we are delighted to launch our reglurar Gypsy music classes. We offer group lessons for beginners and one to one tuition for more advanced players on various instruments. You can also join our mixed instrument group to play together with others. The classes are delivered by the best authentic Roma players available.
Due to the Covid-19 outbrake, all our classes are cancelled until further notice.
We are working hard to promote and nurture Roma talent. To achieve that we continuously develop and deliver events, groups and performers for audiences both at community and mainstream level. Have a look at what we have been up to with generous support from Creative Scotland, Glasgow Life, Big Lottery, BEMIS and partner organisations:
