We offer 3 different classes classes on the violin to suit different styles and levels. Please have a look at our classes below.
Beginner Group
About:
We invite players who are new to this colourful genre to join the group, where you will have the opportunity to learn the basics about Gypsy violin styles. These classes will help you to build a wide repertoire of Gypsy fiddle tunes and learn about the basic stylistic techniques in a slow and detailed manner. The group is led by Janos Lang, the Creative director of Ando Glaso.
Level:
The ability of playing tunes/melodies is essential for these classes and won't be suitable for people who would like to learn the instrument. However we can accommodate such requests on demand, please contact us if you would like to start learning the violin and you have no previous experience. You are also welcome to come and observe the classes before you join.
Availability:
The classes will take place in the CCA on Mondays at 18.00 starting on the 16/03/2020.
You can book for a block of 4 X 1 hour long classes on our website. If you prefer to arrange your booking in a different way, please contact us.

Advanced Individual Transylvanian Style
About:
You will have the opportunity to immerse into the intricate world of Transylvanian Gypsy music and learn from a true master of the style. Marius Otves is coming from a strong musical heritage from Oradea in Romania. He is strongly rooted in the region's Bihar style music, however he is an incredible source of music from other regions and styles of Transylvania. This is a unique opportunity to learn from an authentic master of this complex and beautiful style.
Level:
These classes are suitable for confident players, who's technic is already at a developed stage and capable of playing in positions. You will be learning new bowing and ornamentation techniques in a hands on manner.
Availability:
You can book a block of 4 X 45 mins long classes on our website and the dates for the classes will be arranged with you individually. Classes will take place in the CCA however home visits might be available upon request.

Advanced Individual Hungarian/Balkan Styles
About:
Janos Lang is a well established Hungarian Roma expert of various Gypsy and traditional fiddle styles from Hungary to the Balkans. As a trained violin teacher he has 20 years experience to provide bespoke violin classes that will equip you with the intricate styles and techniques to become a confident player of various Eastern-European and Balkan Gypsy and traditional fiddle styles.
Level:
These classes are suitable for confident players, who's technic is already at a developed stage and capable of playing in positions. You will be able to request written material and request any styles and tunes you would like to discover.
